Here's some footage from our performance at the 2011 Unity Fest courtesy of our friends Shelby and Amy.... This was definitely a dope event put on by the students of Tuscon High School. We were honored for the invite, and blessed to have shared the stage with talented local, regional, and national Hip-Hop acts.  It was awesome to see up and coming youth representing the elements in all their forms. Below you will see footage of Las Calaveras, a female Hip-Hop duo doing a joint with the support of Top Nax on the beatbox. What a delight! It is also pertinent to add that the youth seen here, have been putting it down the last two weeks in resisting the possible demise of the ethnic clubs and studies that make the Unity Fest possible....In Solidarity!! Tucson/S-cukson Report

  We were in the midst of some dope vibes the night of February 8, 2011 in Tuscon,AZ. Young students and adult community members gathered at the Tuscon Unified School District building to voice their opposition to the potential banning of ethnic studies . Inside, concerned individuals sat in on the developing school board meeting. Outside, there was open mic, where emcees, dj's, musicians, and spoken word poets held it down, lending their creativity in creating a positive artistic platform for expression.  We got the opportunity to rock a few songs for the enthralled crowd of youth. Many were receptive as we wrapped up our 'Papers' track chanting the question, “WHAT DO WE DO WHEN COMMUNITIES ARE UNDER ATTACK??!!” The students replied with a resounding, “WE FIGHT BACK!!” * Word to the Righteous *  *** photos courtesy of Westli Narro Castro*** The protest/open mic was also in conjunction with the launching of U.N.I.D.O.S , a grassroots student group thats campaigning...

Blaze Foley - Sittin' By The Road

If someone would ask me for my favourite folk and country songs, Blaze Foley's "Clay Pigeons" would surely make the top 5. Still, this man's music never really got the attention it deserved, so it's a nice to see a label like eliterecords releasing some of Foley's early recordings in "Sittin' By The Road". Here you will find a raw version of some of his best and well known songs. There's a lot of blues and a kind of bold melancholy in the tunes by the man who was friends with the biggest country artists in the business.
